Bags of Blessings is a weekend food security program that has partnered with New Hope Elementary School, Owens Cross Roads School, and Madison County Elementary School to provide meal packs to school children on free breakfast & lunch. In many cases, the meals at school are the only meals these children receive. The meal packs are distributed discreetly into the child’s backpack on Fridays and help supplement children through the weekend. Larger packs are handed out for fall break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break, and summer.
By providing weekend food to children, school administration has reported an increase in their attendance, test scores, and a decrease in behavioral issues; ultimately allowing the children to take their focus off their hunger crisis and put it back on their school work and learning.
Special thanks to our Member Churches who support this ministry with volunteers, donations, and food drives. We are especially grateful to our Community Partners, like 100X Church, Mayfair Church, Torch, Venturi and D & F Equipment for their continued support of volunteers and financial support to this vital ministry! We appreciate you all so much for making a life-long difference and a lasting commitment to our youth.
