Thank you to ALL our volunteers who have made this day possible, especially:
Gregg Berens, Jane Mitchell, Carmen Arcurri
Today, 45 sponsors, 44 golfers, and 14 volunteers = 103 members of our community who have come together to provide a brighter future for our neighbors. The CARE Center has worked with the communities in southeast Madison County for almost 19 years. The families in those communities have come along ways towards food security and self-sustainability. However, there is still much work to be done! Much of the improvement that has been experienced in these communities is due to our afterschool programs. Unfortunately, we recently lost funding for these programs…which makes fundraising events like today so important!
Your support will go a long way toward providing students living in poverty with weekend food support through Bags of Blessings and providing access to tutoring, mentoring, and afterschool programs where students have a safe place to stay, receive a healthy snack and are exposed to hands-on learning and enrichment activities.
The CARE Center has a food pantry and is able to offer some financial assistance for those who find themselves in crisis. We have an amazing 12,000 square foot thrift store that offers employment opportunities to our neighbors, but also allows neighbors to provide basic needs for their family with dignity! You are welcome to come shop as well! We have treasures donated every day. Money earned through thrift store sales goes directly to support The CARE Center’s ministries. So, please, come shop with us! Our newest ministry is the College, Career and Adult Education ministries. We bring partnerships that are easily accessible to people living in Metro-Huntsville to rural southeast New Hope and Gurley. We partner with Calhoun Community College to provide GED prep classes and Ready to Work programs. We also have a partnership that provides Work Based Learning. All of these are important for workforce development and are available to our neighbors locally!
It is because of caring donors and supporters like yourselves that we are able to continue to make a difference in our communities!
