Bags of Blessings

2022/2023 Updated Bags of Blessings Application!

Click HERE to complete the 2022 / 2023 school year Bags of Blessings application.
Bags of Blessings is a food security program that provides food packs to qualifying school children from low-income families during weekends and school closures. Due to COVID-19 and Madison County School System’s decision to begin the first 9-weeks of school virtually, we will provide weekend Bag of Blessings through the school’s grab-and-go lunch line or the school’s lunch delivery program each Friday. Upon returning to traditional face-to-face school, the food packs intended to sustain a child through the weekend will be distributed on Fridays at school to qualifying students. Please complete the application regardless if your child received Bags of Blessings last school year. A new application is required. Due to these uncertain times, you must share your correct contact information, including your cell phone and address. If your contact information changes throughout the year, please be sure to contact The CARE Center to update your information. This is how we will reach out to you with updates regarding Bags of Blessings, Christmas Store, and CARE Packs (school supplies.) You are welcome to complete and submit this form online (be sure to upload proof of income) or print and mail (be sure to include proof of income) to: P.O. Box 51, New Hope, Al. 35760. If you need assistance filling out an application or have any questions, please call 256-723-2273.

Bags of Blessings is a weekend food security program that has partnered with New Hope Elementary School and High School and Owens Cross Roads School to provide meal packs to school children who are approved through The CARE Center’s application process. In many cases, the meals at school are the only healthy meals these children receive. The meal packs are distributed discreetly to the child’s homeroom teacher each Fridays and help supplement children through the weekend. We partner with local churches

to provide larger Break Bags of Blessings for Fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring and Summer Break.

By providing weekend food to children, school administrators have reported an increase in school day attendance, test scores, and a decrease in behavioral issues; ultimately allowing the children to take their focus off their hunger crisis and put it back on their school work and learning.

Special thanks to our Member Churches who support this ministry with volunteers, monetary donations, and filling break bags. We are especially grateful to our Community Partners, such as Torch, Venturi, Crestwood Women’s Fund, Kiwanis and D&F Equipment for their continued support of volunteers and financial support to this vital ministry! We appreciate you all so much for making a life-l

ong difference and a lasting commitment to our youth.
