Gurley 21st Century Community Learning Center (GCLC)

Gurley 21st Century Community Learning Center (GCLC) is a ministry of The CARE Center funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. In 2016, The CARE Center and Madison County Elementary School collaborated together and were awarded a 21st CCLC grant from the Alabama State Department of Education. Additional funding from United Way of Madison County Community Impact grant supplements programmatic costs not allowable by 21stCCLC.

Our goal is to create a safe and caring environment for students where learning is disguised as fun. Our program focuses on building student skills in science, technology, engineering and math, reading, and art. Students also enjoy character education programs and social emotional learning that teach children how to resolve and cope with many of today’s issues. Additionally, we provide service-learning opportunities that teach students to give back to their community.

GCLC is in session during the school year Monday- Friday from 2:45-5:30 PM. We also provide a fun, 5-week summer camp experience. GCLC serves students in grades Kindergarten-8th who are zoned for the Madison County Elementary School. There is no fee associated with attending our program.
