New Hope Community Learning Center (NHCLC)

New Hope 21st Century Community Learning Center (NHCLC) is a division of The CARE Center funded in part by various grant funds, donations and partnerships. In 2010, The CARE Center and New Hope Elementary School collaborated together and were awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grant from the Alabama State Dept of Education which afforded a state of the art after school and summer experience for our students. Unfortunately, after 9-years of funding we did not receive a 21stCCLC grant for the 2019-20 school year. We are blessed to receive funding from United Way which will help to sustain this program, but will also rely on corporate partnerships and donations!

Our goal is to create a safe, caring environment for the students where learning is disguised as fun. Our program focuses on building student skills in science, technology, engineering, math, reading, and art. Students also enjoy character education programs that teach children how to resolve many of today’s issues and service learning projects which teach students to give back to their community.

NHCLC is in session Monday- Friday from 2:45-5:30 PM, beginning August 19, 2019-May 15, 2020. This year’s Power Scholar Academy summer camps will be in session Monday-Friday from 8:00 A.M.-2:30 P.M. beginning June 1-July 3, 2020. NHCLC serves students in grades Kindergarten-8th who are zoned for New Hope Elementary School. There is a fee associated with attending our program. However, we do provide financial scholarships to students approved through our application process.
