Owens Cross Roads Community Learning Center (OCRCLC)

Owens Cross Roads 21st Century Community Learning Center (OCRCLC) is a ministry of The CARE Center funded partly by various grant funds and partnerships. In 2016, The CARE Center and Owens Cross Roads School collaborated. The program was awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grant from the Alabama State Dept of Education, which afforded our students a state-of-the-art, high-quality after-school and summer experience. Additional funding from the United Way of Madison County Community Impact grant supplements programmatic costs not allowable by 21stCCLC.

Our goal is to create a safe, caring environment for the students where learning is disguised as fun. Our program builds student skills in science, technology, engineering, math, reading, and art. Students also enjoy character education and social-emotional learning programs that teach children how to resolve and cope with many of today’s issues. We also create service-learning opportunities which prepare students to give back to their community.

OCRCLC is in session during the school year Monday- Friday from 2:45-5:30 PM. We also provide a fun, high-quality, 5-week summer camp experience. OCRCLC serves students in Kindergarten-4th who are zoned for Owens Cross Roads School. There is no fee associated with attending our program.
